Presented by Lindisfarne Productions

Dixon Studio, Palace Theatre

19 Nov – Sat 23 Nov
ST: Arcadia

Who knew early-nineteenth-century English country houses could be such hotbeds of sex, gossip, and mathematics? It’s 1809 at Sidley Park, and thirteen-year-old Thomasina is learning more from her tutor Septimus than algebra and Latin. Meanwhile, in present day, Bernard has arrived to uncover an historic scandal which is said to have taken place when Lord Byron stayed at Sidley Park and mischief lurked in the shrubberies. Love affairs, duels, and philandering are pitched against the passions of 21st Century academics.
Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia has the past and present comically blurred in a time slip as two present day researchers investigate the past.
A smash hit since its debut in 1993, Arcadia is a funny, moving drama and is considered one of the great plays of the 20th Century.

An amateur production.
