After a welcome return to live music, Southend Council Concerts Series continues this month with a programme of music for piano duet performed by pianists Roderick Elms and Joanna Smith.
Joanna Smith grew up in Southend, attending local schools, and studying the piano with the late Mrs Honor Jackson. She then continued her studies at the Royal College of Music, winning many prestigious prizes and awards. The husband and wife duo perform widely across concert halls in London, the UK and overseas.
They perform regularly with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestras and with the BBC. Their concert in Southend on Friday 26th November at the Plaza Centre, Southchurch Road, Southend on Sea, will include music by Mozart, Grainger and transcriptions of well known songs.
The programme will also include Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite”. The concert starts at 8pm and tickets can be booked online at www.southend.gov.uk/concerts or by phone 01702 215011 Mon – Fri during work hours. There will also be tickets available on the night of the concert.
